About a year ago I set a goal to run a marathon to distract myself from the end of a relationship. It was hard to get started with my training, and eventually I lost motivation. This time around I’m doing it for me, and so far it has made a huge difference. My new goal is to run a marathon in 1 year sometime in December 2014. Until then I have signed up for several races to help keep me motivated, but getting started still isn’t the easiest thing I’ve done…
Getting into an exercise routine has been a struggle for me over the last few years, but lately it’s been getting easier. I’ve replaced marathon movie watching on netflix with running, and routine trips to get fast food with home cooked meals. I feel better than I have in years, and this has really helped with my motivation. But with a high motivation, injuries keep popping up.
I started running regularly at the end of November and I started to have knee pain that prevented me from getting into a regular running schedule. My roommate suggested getting some Smart Feet insoles, to start doing hip exercises, and getting running socks. After about a week of her advice I am finally back into my running groove.
So now it begins. Getting started on this journey for change. My first 5k will be on my birthday, this upcoming February on the 15th. Stay tuned for updates along the way!
